Your Waist-to-Height Ratio
0.00
--
Waist-to-Height Ratio (WHtR) compares your waist circumference to your height to estimate central (abdominal) body fat, which many researchers consider a stronger predictor of cardiometabolic risk than BMI alone.
Because it accounts for where fat is carried rather than just overall weight, WHtR can flag elevated risk even in people whose BMI falls in a "healthy" range.
Divide your waist circumference by your height, measured in the same units. The result is a simple ratio — a widely cited rule of thumb is keeping your waist circumference below half your height.
Formula
WHtR = waist circumference ÷ height (same units)
Example: 32 in waist ÷ 68 in height = 0.47
| Category | Range |
|---|---|
| Healthy range | Below 0.5 |
| Increased risk | 0.5 – 0.6 |
| High risk | Above 0.6 |
